SHORT COURSE I
One day prior to FILTECH 2011 on Monday March 21, 2011 two 1-Day Short Courses will be held.

THE SOLID/LIQUID SEPARATION PROCESS

"The Solid Liquid Separation Process" Short Course is of interest to engineers, scientists, managers and other technical personnel involved in solid-liquid separation in the process and other industries. They will find the course informative, regardless of whether they design, purchase, research or use filtration and separation equipment. Plant engineers, technicians and operators should find the course materials directly applicable, and graduate research students will value the expert introduction to the technologies. It is a comprehensive review of the processes involved in the separation of solids from liquids, which will emphasise practical aspects and present appropriate theoretical information as necessary.

SCOPE:
Woven and Composite Filter Media Sedimenters Pressure and Vacuum Filtration
Nonwoven Filter Media & Membranes Cake Filters Selection, Analysis & Simulation of SLS Equipment
Clarification Filtration Centrifugal Separations Computer Software

PRESENTERS

Professor Richard Wakeman is a consultant chemical engineer with many years experience of working with industry internationally.

He also holds professorships at Loughborough (UK), Pardubice (Czech Republic) and Chun Yuan (Taiwan) Universities and is a Visiting Fellow at Mumbai University (India). He is the Honorary Secretary of The Filtration Society and a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers and the Royal Academy of Engineering.

Dr. Steve Tarleton
is a mechanical engineer and a Senior Lecturer at Loughborough University, and has been Secretary of the EFCE Working Party on Filtration and Separation.

The presenters are internationally recognised experts who have both been Chairmen of The Filtration Society. They have co-authored several books and over 400 technical articles. They are the principals of Filtration Solutions, the publisher of the FILTRATION journal, Filter Design Software, and The Dictionary of Filtration and Separation. Their work has been published widely and recognised by awards from the Institution of Chemical Engineers, The Filtration Society, and the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers.
